LSE PhD Studentships and LSE ESRC DTP Studentships

This is to bring to the notice of the public that in 2019, LSE will be offering approximately 100 main studentships to new PhD students in the structure of LSE PhD Studentships and LSE ESRC DTP Studentships These studentships are open to UK, EU and international citizens undertaking research in any LSE discipline.

LSE PhD Studentships are tenable for four years and covers full fees and an annual take-home pay of £18,000.

Description of Scholarship

  • Closing date of Application:Dec 12, 2018
    • Course Level:  Scholarship is open to those who seek to pursue a PhD Degree program.
    • Study Subject:  Scholarships are awarded to study in Economics.
    • Scholarship Award: LSE PhD Studentships are tenable for four years and covers full fees and an annual take-home pay of £18,000.
    • Number of Scholarships:  Approximately 100 main studentships to new PhD students
  • Nationality: These studentships are open to UK, EU and international citizens.
    • Scholarship will be taken in the UK

REQUIREMENTS
• LSE PhD Studentships are tenable for four years and covers full fees and an annual take-home pay of £18,000. These studentships are open to UK, EU and international citizens undertaking research in any LSE discipline, with annual renewal subject to adequate academic performance.
• These awards will be made exclusively on the basis of exceptional academic worth and research prospective. This relates both to your precedent academic record and to an evaluation of your likely aptitude to complete a PhD in your preferred topic in the time allocated.
• The studentships include a requirement that scholars contribute to their department as part of their research training, in the form of teaching or other work, usually from year two onwards.

Procedures for Application

How to Apply      

  • Academic departments recommend students for consideration by a School panel for all PhD funding opportunities they may be qualified for. There is no separate application for any of these studentships.
  • To be considered for the monetary need, you ought to have submitted your complete application for admission to LSE by a specific date. This date differs by the academic department. Refer to the individual program page for the appropriate closing date information.
  • Closing date for MRes/PhD Economics for 2019 entry (including PhD Studentships and ESRC funding): 12 Dec 2018
  • Funding closing date for first round of PhD Studentships and for ESRC funding for 2019 entry: 7 January 2019
  • Funding closing date for second round of PhD Studentships deadline for 2019 entry (some departments only): 26 April 2019
