Gates Cambridge

We are happy to announce to most Gates Cambridge Scholars that the journey to the 2020/2021 fully funded Gates Cambridge Scholarships For Masters & PhD in the UK has been declared open.

Cambridge Trust Scholarship 2020 is another opportunity for you to obtain a PhD and Masters Degree in the UK.

What is Gates Cambridge Trust Scholarships?

Gates Cambridge Scholarship program is the largest ever single gift at a British university.

Scholarships are awarded to excellent candidates from countries outside the UK to follow a full-time postgraduate course in any course available at the University of Cambridge. The selection criteria are:

• Excellent intellectual skill

• Leadership potential

• A good match between the qualifications and ambitions of the applicant and the postgraduate program in Cambridge for which they are applying

While in Cambridge, Scholars follow the full range of subjects in college and are scattered throughout its departments and colleges.

Cambridge was founded in 1209 and received a royal charter from King Henry III in 1231. It is the second oldest university in the English-speaking world and the third oldest university in the world.

The university originated from an association of scientists who left the University of Oxford after a dispute with the townspeople. The two medieval universities have many common features and are often referred to collectively as “Oxbridge”.

The goal of the Bill Gates Cambridge program is to build a global network of future leaders who are committed to improving the lives of others.

Where there are specific guidelines from the department on word length and format for the research proposal, applicants must follow this. If you have a PhD applicant, but your department does not require a research proposal, then you must submit a two-page document outlining your research plans for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship.

How can I become a Gates Cambridge Scholars in 2020?

1. Departmental rankings

To ensure that only the most academically excellent candidates are taken into account, the Trust asks academic departments in Cambridge to place eligible candidates on academic skills only. Those put forward by their departments are considered the most academically outstanding candidates they have received that year.

2. Nomination

Once the Trust has a list of all ranked candidates, they are subdivided into broad topics and passed on to our Shortlisting Committees.

 3. Interview

All candidates on the shortlist have a short interview to assess how they meet all four Gates Cambridge criteria and scientists are selected after an interview.

Is the Gates Cambridge Scholarships 2020 underway?

Yes! The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is currently underway, what you could ask me now is: “When is the Gates Cambridge Scholarship Deadline?” This block answers these questions. The following table shows the full detail of the Scholarship application timeline.

Gates Cambridge considers candidates each year in two selection rounds:

Round 1: American citizens who normally only reside in the US

Applicants in this round must apply for participation in October 2020 by 10 October 2019 at the latest.

Round 2: all other eligible applicants ( art from the Graduate Funding Competition)
