Aeronautics and Astronautics Scholarships

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics is a professional organization that finances students in higher education. They also support Aeronautics and Astronautics Scholarships on different levels.

This post will look at a few out of the available grants given by this Institute to scholars.

Luis de Florez Graduate Award

This scholarship is sponsored by the technical committee for modelling and simulation of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).

 Candidates must be a current American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) student member with a good reputation, must have completed at least 1 academic fifteen minutes or semester of full-time HBO university work and approved a research topic, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3,300 on a 4,000 scale, research subject modelling and simulation, are enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States.


The recipient of this grant is selected based on the following required criteria; a transcript from an official college/university (if the applicant has attended more than one university/university, transcripts from ALL schools must be provided), including work for undergraduates and graduates completed during the most recent fall period, MUST be completed mailed to the AIAA Foundation scholarship program; ao Felicia Livingston, 12700 Sunrise Valley Drive, Suite 200, Reston, VA 20191-5807.


Secure electronic PDF transcripts are accepted, but they must be sent directly from the applicant’s electronic delivery service to the university/university on or before the deadline date to be accepted. Assessment of a 500-1,000 word-written essay, stating the career objectives of the applicant and a sketch of the academic program required to achieve the career objectives.


A survey overview of no more than twenty (20) pages, presented in PDF format. Research overview can be outlined in any way you choose, but must clearly define hypotheses, research approach, objectives and benefits of research. Three (3) professional recommendation letters (recommendations from family members are not accepted).

Recommendation letters must be submitted via the online application database. Paper letters by e-mail are not accepted. Extracurricular activities, including high school, university and community activities, offices, prizes and work experience will receive the necessary attention.


Selection is made by the technical committee for modelling and simulation of AIAA, if the technical committee for modelling and simulation of AIAA decides that for a certain year there is no qualified candidate, the prize will not be paid.


Compensation scheme women in Aerospace Foundation

 The foundation advocates women who deserve their place in the aviation industry. One initiative of the Foundation offers university scholarships for students who deserve it. Two scholarships worth $2000 each year are awarded to aerospace students who meet the following eligibility requirements;


Cumulative GPA of 3.0, minimum 2.5-year instruction completed at the time of application, accredited higher education institute, work on a bachelor’s degree, woman and career in the aviation industry. Winners are honoured during the organization’s annual October Distinction Dinner.


The Women in Aerospace Foundation was established in 2009 as a non-profit, tax-free educational organization created to raise public awareness of the importance and benefits of the aerospace area, public appreciation of aerospace science and to increase technology and to inspire female students to develop the skill sets needed to innovate and to take a leading role in the development of aerospace technology.


The foundation achieves its goal by providing scholarships to women who are studying architecture, mathematics or science at bachelor level, to encourage women to pursue a career in the field of aerospace, the chances of women in leadership in aerospace to expand and increase the visibility of women in the space community.


For more information, interested applicants can contact the WIA Foundation at or call 202-547-0229. The WIA Foundation offers scholarships to women who are interested in a career in the field of aerospace to follow higher education in the field of engineering, mathematics or science.


The scholarships are awarded every year to a rising senior at the university, who will be applied during the coming academic year.

Applications will be available on or around mid-November to mid-December for the following academic year. The timeline of the scholarship is as follows: mid-December, June 19 2019, end of July, November 1, 2019.
